Prep Work

November 25, 2008

We received our county permits on November 19th and the contractor has begun prep work on the house. They are planning to rip off the roof next week. We are racing against the winter weather. Here are some more before pictures of the house:

Looking straight ahead from the front door, toward the living room and the sunroom:

Looking toward old kitchen, full bath, and entrance to front room, all of which will become part of new kitchen and breakfast area:
Front room where new kitchen will be:

Looking toward front door and entry foyer from living room. The opening to the room will be widened, but the half-walls will become full walls to make the room cozier:

Looking toward the front door. The room to the left of the front door will become the stairwell and the playroom:

Looking into the front room. The stairwell will take up some of the space. The rest of the room will remain and become the girls' playroom:

Looking into sunroom from living room:

Skylights will remain (but glass will be replaced):

Looking into the master (back) bedroom from the dressing area. This area will be divided into two offices, one for Kenny, one for Alex:

Goodbye, shrubbery

November 8, 2008

A landscape crew spent a few days digging up the azaleas and overgrown shrubs, both in front and in back of the house. The Vermont Walkers were in town so they got to see the house for the first time!
